The 2012 Symposium on Small Towns
Wednesday, June 13 evening - Thursday, June 14 all day

The 2012 Symposium on Small Towns focuses on community leaders coming together to share what’s been learned from actively developing new strategies; making changes to the traditional and status quo; and a renewed commitment to help each other learn and grow.

The Symposium on June 14 will feature invited talks by distinguished speakers, a public policy panel, and presentations by community members about their work. Don't miss the pre-Symposium activities on June 13th, including a reception with music and good food.

Reigniting Community Leadership: Being Bold in the Face of Change
June 12-14, 2012*
University of Minnesota, Morris

The Center for Small Towns and Bush Foundation are partnering to highlight the importance of leadership in our communities. There are TWO important events taking place.

Adapting to the increasingly rapid pace of change in rural America requires the ability to make sense of the complexity, exploring modified or new activities and strategies, and taking measured risks. Fortunately there are new tools, resources, and models emerging to help with meeting the challenges.

We encourage you to review the proposed schedule for the Leadership Chautauqua AND the proposed schedule for Symposium prior to registering. This will help you as you make choices in the registration.

Leadership Chautauqua
Tuesday, June 12 evening - Wednesday, June 13 all day

The Leadership Chautauqua is hosted by Bush Foundation. This program is intended for program providers, funders, and researchers of leadership programs. If you work in the areas listed above, we hope you will consider being a part of this unique convening. The Leadership Chautauqua events begin on June 12 evening and continue all day on June 13th.

The Leadership Chautauqua brings leadership development program practitioners from Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to join with community leaders to explore how leadership development programs assist in our community vitality efforts. The joint gathering strives to be practical, affordable, and to create a platform to maximize the benefits of face-to-face interactions for all who care about small towns and rural areas.
